Hope Found West
A Mail Order Romance Novel
When Margaret Ashaler accepts a marriage proposal from Charles, a local young, rich businessman, she knows without a doubt, that her life will change forever. No longer will she have to worry about her next meal or whether she will have a clean outfit to wear. However, standing in the most expensive wedding dress, Margaret waits, only to realize her husband-to-be won’t be arriving. Being jilted was not part of her dream wedding day..
With no choice but to be taken in by her best friend and her best friend's mother, Margaret must find her own path, and fast. She enlists herself to become a mail order bride, and after months of waiting and exchanging letters, she boards a train west.
Daniel Sernla is a strong man with a nice house and a supple farm, but his heart is broken by the murder of his brother in Dodge City. He hopes the arrival of his wife-to-be will ease his aching soul, but it is tougher than it seems.
In a story of love, revenge, and redemption, Daniel must battle the urge to find the man who killed his brother while Margaret tries to become the perfect wife to Daniel... they must find a way to love and trust each other, especially in the face of danger...

If I liked to write book reports I would go back to school!
Seven more words my big fat butt....
The story had nice twists and turns. For that it's a 5. But the author used a lot of recent phrases (not suitable for the setting of the book), and it needed editing. For that it's a 3. Overall, a 4.
This book was just ok. The plot was a great idea, but I prefer to read books where I am in the thoughts of the characters. This book felt more like you were watching from the outside. Writing was choppy and immature at times. Lots of editing errors. At one spot they called Alice Annie and there were modern phrases that felt out of place.
Premise is engaging, if not particularly original, but WAY too much narration vs dialogue. Telling vs doing just never holds my attention and tends to slow down the plot. Well-edited with potential. So slow the writing seems immature. I bet the author can address this and produce better results as the clean grammar indicates they are not afraid of hard work.
There was not very much character development in this book. It kept hopping around and between that and the typos, it was frustrating. Love mail order bride books. This could have been phenomenal because of the story itself, but lacked feeling and was just okay reading. Found myself skipping a lot of text to see if the story would improve toward the end. No...
Margaret and her father were having problems. The land that they farmed did not produce enough to provide for them. Charles has plan. He had Margaret's father switch properties with an older couple, which allowed her father to have fertile land. Charles has been courting Margaret and they make plans to marry. Charles leaves town and Margaret. Margaret becomes a mail order bride.
This is a very confusing book. Go back Marilyn James and fix it. The plot is good, but you skip back and forth. Adding here and there, and adding something new. You did not proof read. Misspelled words. Come on. Fix it.
