It was very hot but there was little story. Just sex, sex, sex...death...then more sex. Normally, I would not have kept reading past the first 5 pages but I read the whole book and actually liked it. The couple had already known each other for 2 years at the beginning of the story. The first chapter hooked me with 2 major conflicts. The entire episode took place in less than 12 hours. There is a cliffhanger of sorts. A different ending, an epilogue, or something is missing. The emotions actually seem real. There is a very good fight scene. This book has 5 star potential. But it needs more STORY and a longer time span. I will probably try reading another book in the series.Product details

Having not read this author before and haven't read a paranormal book in ages, I decided to get back to my roots. I started with this novella. I've been interested in this author for a while and with saying that, we meet Javier and Lilah. Both characters have been secretly loving each other from the distance, afraid to go any further because Lilah is bonded to an old Vampire and its illegal for one vampire, to mess with another vampire's property. Otherwise Lilah is off limits to Javier.
Javier works at a Theatre that provides live erotic shows for vampires and Lilah works there by command by her master. Now here is where things get all heated, because Javier comes back from overseas and he's missing Lilah like crazy. Unknown to him, Lilah was missing him like crazy, when he left. Javier keeps his feelings to himself and so does Lilah because of the bond. Supposedly, a human should feel tremendous amount of pain when another vampire, not their master touches them and drinks from them.
However, despite the pain he would but Lilah through and the consequences for himself, Javier decides that he cannot control himself any longer and makes a move. I found that to be a selfish move on his end. Like dude, seriously. This is the woman who you've been loving from a distance and you would cause her so much pain and agony just for personal pleasures?
Javier lost a few points with me. Nevertheless, Lilah doesn't feel the pain, that one should feel when there is a completed bond. Lilah and Javier have a heated sexy scene which ends pretty quickly because well, Lilah is off limits.
The next scenes that follow is where I have a hard time rating because I found myself skipping a few pages. After Javier leaves Lilah hot, sexy and bothered she follows him and finds him in a towel naked. They talk and eventually the sexy parts happen again and it was hot in the beginning but it felt like it dragged on. Hence I was skipping a few pages. A few chapters more, and they are still dirty talking, foreplay, sexing and then finally he bites her. For me, it felt like it took forever.
I like Javier. I thought he was a sweet vampire. He knew what he wanted and for Lilah, he didn't care. You knew without a doubt that this vampire was willing to lay his life down for her. I liked his sweetness and how he wore his heart on his sleeve.
The Vampires were interesting, like Snow, I want to know more about him. Funny though, when he was described, all I could think about was my brothers white bunny that had red eyes. As I digress, their laws are interesting and I would read more books in this series.
This book had potential for pure awesomeness, but it was sorely lacking in my opinion. I'm really considering if I should just delete it from my library.
True there was sex, drama and of course our expected happily ever after, but seriously who wrote those scenes? They were abrupt, and the descriptions seemed all over the place for me. I'll probably read crave, but only cause the first chapter seemed more interesting or maybe better written than this one.
I give the author an A for effort, cause even though I love to read, I hate to write, and it takes a lot of grit and effort to come up with work and put it out here. On another note, please please please don't compare this author to Christine Feehan and the likes.

Oh WOW! This story is a rousing surprise. I like the cover plus the fact I have been wanting to read a story written by Felicity Heaton. This is first time I have read Felicity Heaton and it won't be my last. I intended to read a book written Felicity Heaton and I am happy that I won this book this book. Covet is the first book of V.E.T Vampire Romance Series, there are six books in this series. This book is steamy hot, intense, captivating, very passionate, lots of sensual action and so believable. The characters are mysterious, interesting, sexy and powerful. The dialogue is great and it's everything you could want as a PNR lover. Javier is a sexy, powerful, gorgeous Vampire. He runs the theatre with three other vampires. Lilah Is a female mortal and she belongs to a powerful aristocrat patron of Vampirerotique. Javier knows that he needs to ignore his hunger for Lilah. Because if he touch her then he would break a sacred Vampire law and it means death to him. But they have fought their desire for each other from the time Lilah arrived as a servant at the theatre. As each glance Javier steals, his eyes promise her more pleasure that can satisfy her longing for him, has chipped away at her defences and Lilah can't deny her forbidden feelings and needs for Javier. They are willing to ignore and risk everything for their passion, and for Javier to make Lilah his. What a fantastic read this is, it gives you hot flashes and so that by the end of the story you will need a ice pack to cool down. I have enjoyed how this story starts and end, it makes you feels happy. What a awesome romantic read that I highly recommend.
